Ok guys, so here is something you may or may have noticed about me. I tend to have dark circles and bags under my eyes and they can be a big pain. They come from having naturally pale skin, being a notorious night owl, and of course genetics. If you don’t have bags or circles under your eyes, bless you, you are part of the chosen few. But if you are anything like me, you’ve looked high and low for a way to ease these pesky bags.
I came across several methods that claimed to be at home remedies, and they all seem well and good, but one caught my eye because it used milk. Milk is historically good for skin and has a ton of anti aging properties in it (Cleopatra is said to have bathed in milk. Talk about decadent). After trying it, I was actually surprised by the results. Follow along if you’d like to see what I did!
First you need some sort of absorbent material. I just happened to have some gauze that I wanted to use, but a normal paper towel will do just as well.
Next you want to cut the gauze or paper towel into a square about the size of your hand.
Once you have the square, cut it in half to give you two rectangular pieces that are roughly the same size.
Next, with one piece on top of the other, cut a little semi circle along one edge of your rectangles.
Now you have perfect makeshift eye patches.
To make the milk easier to deal with, I poured some into a measuring cup. You really do not need a lot of milk for this to work, and this 1/8 cup was way too much.
Next, I dipped the eye patch stips into the milk and made sure they were thoroughly wet.
Any excess, I squeezed into the sink.
Make sure your face is free of all makeup and your skin is clean. (I don’t know why I keep doing tutorials that require no makeup. I promise I can actually put on makeup! Also I tend to have a resting you-know-what face, but I’m actually a very happy person haha.)
While the strips are still wet, press them on to the under eye area.
Now let them sit until they are dry. I left mine on for about 30 minutes. They won’t be super sticky, so just lay back and relax and watch a netflix show while you wait.
Once they’re dry, throw the eye patches away and rinse your skin. All done!
My bags weren’t completely gone, but I can see an improvement. I think this is something I’ll have to keep trying and see if over time they go away completely.
