  • Greatly looking forward to our first weekend at home in what feels like forever. While there are still plenty of DIY projects around the house to get done we really can't wait for some time to just chill out together. What are your weekend plans? Happy Friday!
  • A website that is easy for my clients to update is the number one priority for me. The more areas that can update automatically, like with each new blog post or data from readership, the better!
After years of running a business website, and even longer running a blog, I know how time consuming it can be to keep everything up-to-date. Even the slightest change like swapping out imagery can turn into a time sink. .
So when I’ve been planning out new themes, yep I said NEW (were you following me back in the day when I used to sell my old themes??), my main priority has been to make everything as customizable as possible and super, duper simple to navigate, not just on the front end but within the dashboard as well. The faster you can make changes to your site, the better it will represent your brand and the faster you can get back to creating amazing content.
  • Working on some color palettes and can never get enough watercolor washes. Some brands just call for muted, dreamy washes.
  • That mid-day inspiration break in the new office with all the Friday moods. 📚🌱🐶
I’m headed to my 10 year high school reunion this weekend and am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that it’s been 10 years. Then again, a lot has changed about my life since I was 18. Life is funny that way. It goes ridiculously fast but you still manage to fit a whole lot of living into it.
What are your plans this weekend?
  • Nothing makes me happier than a custom font. 🙌 Even a subtle change like giving this classic serif font a hand painted watercolor texture instantly makes it more rustic and approachable. .
I always present at least one custom font choice to each of my branding clients. Sometimes it’s what we end up using, sometimes it’s not. Regardless, typography plans a huge role in a brand’s story and it serves as proof that attention to even the smallest detail makes all the difference.
  • Slowly but surely getting this office set up to be my dream workspace. .
For the past 3 years my office consisted of a small desk/bar/island that was a built-in feature of our apartment. It was nestled into a corner between our living room and kitchen. In other words, I had no space to stretch out, both physically and creatively. .
Now in our new home I’ve taken over a bedroom and officially claimed it as my office. New (huge!) desk, new storage, and more space than I know what to do with. If you’re looking for me I’ll be happily organizing, daydreaming, and making this space my own. 💕
  • Posting this for myself and for anyone else that needs a change in perspective on this Tuesday. I’m so guilty of the comparison game and it’s been particularly strong lately. There are so many talented designers out there and I’m so honored to know a few of them. But whether or not someone else is doing incredible work holds no bearing on your own value or what you can create. Sometimes it’s so much better to just keep your head down, focus on what you do well, and do a lot more of that thing. There’s room for all of us.
  • Believe it or not we are still here! Things have just been a little crazy this summer for us. Actually, crazy is an understatement. But we have new blog posts, new podcasts, and lots of new projects that we can’t wait to share with you all!
