I’ve been having major house hunting fever. I spend most of my evenings scrolling through listings, not even necessarily in Raleigh, daydreaming of what life would like in each home. Mike and I are are not quite to the stage of buying a home just yet, but my HGTV binging is in full swing with no signs of stopping. Maybe that just means when we do end up buying a house I’ll be ready with Pinterest inspiration galore, DIY projects for days, and enough Fixer Upper knowledge to create the perfect modern vintage blend that dreams are made of.
In my house hunting/daydreaming, I’ve seen trends emerge in every decor, painting, and architecture style imaginable. But today I want to focus on some of my favorite exterior painting trends that can add beautiful curb appeal and style to any home (do I sound like an HGTV ad yet??)
Navy + White
An absolute classic. Slightly preppy, but with the right amount of moodiness to have me absolutely in love. While blue painted exteriors are becoming a trend, regardless of hue, there’s nothing quite like a deep royal or navy. Paired with bright white trim and accents, these home exteriors become the most stylish on the block.
This one gets it’s popularity from society loving all things vintage and European. I mean, come on, German is even in the name. This style is the epitome of antiquing your home like you would an old dresser. I love a good old fashion brick house, but I’m borderline obsessed with German Smear to give it that old world, been here for centuries, look and feel.
White + Stained Wood
I feel like we have Joanna Gaines to thank for this one. Nothing screams modern farmhouse like pairing crisp white with natural stained wood. Whether it’s siding, accents, or entrances, this style is the perfect blend of natural and modern without being over the top.
Black + White
Also a classic, but so versatile! This trend is gorgeous when used as black accents on a white house, but takes on a whole new stunning character when used as white accents on a black house. Whichever way you choose to go there’s no doubt that it’s a winning combo and makes any home look like a stately manor on an English countryside.
Shades of Grey
Grey is always a good call on exteriors and interiors alike. It adds color and interest without being overbearing or distracting, and it’s a color that will be in style for decades. Another plus is that there are so many different shade to choose from that are all beautiful and complimentary on brick, siding, and stucco. Whether you choose a lighter, breezy grey, or a cool and moody grey, white trim and framing will give any house that polished, classic look.
