My newest “finished product” comes from the Not Your Mother’s brand. I’ve used this brand before and swear by their Beach Babe Salt Spray and their Kinky Moves Curl Defining Cream. So I decided to give some of their shampoos a shot.
I’ve been loving my short hair, but in my true fashion I’m craving long hair again. So when I spotted the Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow shampoo and conditioner and read all that it promised to do, I knew I had to give it a try.
Now I don’t usually buy drugstore shampoo, and if I do I still like to stick with items that are sulfate free. These products were, thankfully, sulfate free, which can be hard to find for the cheaper price.
The first few times I washed my hair, I loved it. My hair felt incredibly soft and full of body. But over the month and half that I used these products, I noticed that my hair started to get dull and a little more brittle. Not exactly what I was hoping for from a product that promised healthy hair that would grow long and strong. I was surprised because sulfate shampoos tend to have that effect on my hair, as the sulfates build up over time, but this one even says on the front that it is sulfate free.
I do however love the smell. It’s feminine but not over the top floral. The packaging was decent, but I always seemed to squeeze too much product out at once. Maybe that’s just me being clumsy though.
I gave this product a 3.5 out of 5 because I think I wanted to like this product more than I did. I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing but I do still love NYM’s styling products so I’m not giving up on this brand for good.
